Starting in Horsham in January - Winning the Horsham sports services competition at The Bridge, competing against schools in our locality.

Then the county finals in Crawley in March – What an amazing day for our dodgeball team! Albert, Arun, Luke, Everly, Faith, Jasmine, Ben, Daniel and Murilo took part in the county finals at the K2. They played 6 games in total, each one lasting 6 rounds. The team worked fantastically together, supporting each other throughout and did not lose one round in the heats, securing a them a place in the final. After a nail-biting start, they pulled it out of the bag and achieved a convincing win of 10-2 against Gleneigh Park. As a result, the team were awarded gold medals and a winners trophy and have secured a place in the regional finals in June.

Leading onto the regional finals, in Twickenham:-  Our dodgeball team travelled to Twickenham on Thursday to compete in the regional finals, following their fantastic success in winning the county finals last term.

Facing strong competition from 10 other teams across the region, the pupils demonstrated excellent skill and determination throughout the day. In the morning, they played five matches against half of the field, securing an impressive four wins.

In the afternoon, the team competed in play-off matches against two of the strongest teams in the remaining group. Although they were narrowly defeated in both games, they showed great effort and sportsmanship against very tough opposition.

Overall, the team achieved an outstanding 4th place out of 11 teams in the South region, earning them a well-deserved place in the national finals.

We are incredibly proud of the team. Their resilience, hard work and teamwork have led them to this fantastic achievement – a first for Holbrook in reaching this stage of a national competition.

And finally the National finals, in Kettering in July - 

What a journey!

We are so proud of our amazing dodgeball team, who went to the National dodgeball finals on Friday, in Kettering.

It was an early start, but the team were full of enthusiasm and ready to go when we finally got there. A total of 22 teams were there from all around the country and we began by playing against four different teams in our group. We started strong with a win against Coniston 8 - 4. Next, we played Morven Park and won this game too 7 - 5. We knew the next game was going to be tricky, as we had met this team, Lawford Mead, in the regionals, although we didn't win, we were pleased we scored against them, with a final result of 10 -2. The last game was important, and we worked hard to score 5 against Althorpe, but sadly they won with a score of 7.

After a nail-biting wait, we found out that we had not reached the next round due to points difference. Overall, we came 12th, which is an impressive achievement, taking into account this is across the whole country.

A very well done to Arun, Albert, Ralph, Luke, Ben, Daniel, Murilo, Everly, Faith and Jasmine – a fantastic team who work so well together, showing great sportsmanship, teamwork and resilience. Also, thank you to our fantastic coach Tom and all the parents who have supported the team on this journey.
